During the June 10, 2026, Board of Directors meeting, the Elephant Butte Irrigation District proudly recognized three dedicated employees for reaching significant career milestones. These individuals represent years of dedication, hard work, and a deep commitment to serving the EBID community.

Guillermo “Willie” Herrera – Equipment Operator, North Area. Willie was honored for an impressive 30 years of service. Since beginning his career with EBID on June 7, 1996, he has consistently demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic. For three decades, Willie has played an important role in supporting operations across the District and is recognized as a stellar and dedicated employee.

Mike Gomez – Assistant Watermaster, North AreaMike celebrated 25 years of service, having joined EBID on June 13, 2001. Over the course of his career, he has built a strong reputation for excellence, teamwork, and reliability. His supervisor describes him as “our right-hand man in Hatch,” adding, “I truly appreciate his service and look forward to many more years working together.” Mike’s experience and leadership continue to play a vital role in daily operations and water management efforts, leaving a lasting and positive impact on the District.

Guillermo “Willie” Herrera Jr. – Engineering TechnicianWillie Jr. was recognized for 5 years of service, having begun his career with EBID on June 1, 2021as a Ditch Rider. In January 2026, he stepped into a new role with the Engineering Department, where he has already made an impressive impact. In just a few short months, Willie Jr. has distinguished himself as a valuable and trusted member of the team, contributing his enthusiasm and strong commitment to engineering operations and projects. His supervisor describes him as passionate about his work, a quick learner, and someone who readily embraces new challenges - adding that he is truly a pleasure to work with.
Together, these employees represent a combined 60 years of service to Elephant Butte Irrigation District. Their experience, institutional knowledge, and unwavering commitment are vital to the District’s success and to the communities we serve.
